How Spark Plugs Work

When you ither turn the key in the ignition lock cylinder or press the "Start" button, the ignition switch activates. That causes the battery, starter motor, starter solenoid, and ignition coil to work together to produce a small charge that the plugs capture in their leads. The leads fire that charge across a precisely measured gap, creating the spark that leads to combustion.
